Use SpeakON without the deviceUpdated 28 minutes ago

The SpeakON app works on its own using your iPhone's built-in microphone. You don't need the hardware to use voice input.

What works without the device

· Voice input in any app via the SpeakON keyboard

· Notes — capture and edit voice notes in the app

· Auto Format, Style, Translation, Voice Edits, and Dictionary

· All plan features (Free and Pro)

What the device adds

The SpeakON device gives you a physical Record button so you can start recording without looking at your screen. It also has a dedicated microphone for better audio quality, and can record independently when your phone isn't nearby — those recordings sync to the app the next time the device connects.

How to use voice input without the device

  1. Open any app and tap a text field.
  2. Switch to the SpeakON keyboard (tap and hold the globe icon, then select SpeakON).
  3. Tap the microphone button to start recording. Tap again to stop.
  4. Your text appears at the cursor.

You can also record directly inside the SpeakON app under Notes without targeting a specific text field.

Microphone access

Make sure the SpeakON app has microphone permission enabled. If you're prompted to allow access, tap Allow. You can check this at Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone.
